Micro-Narrative
Because my field of study involves researching the ways that music and sound can impact us so deeply, I have created two narratives through sound: what I am calling a Micro-mix. I have mixed sounds that conjure up feelings just as intense as when the things they represent were actually happening. Part of the study of Gut Musicology is discovering how this is possible.
Both mixes represent aspects of my home life.
Dawn
The first Micro-mix, Dawn, represents waking up in my room at home. I always wake up earlier than the rest of my family and have at least an hour to be alone in my house, listening to music, making tea, or reading the newspaper. This mix represents the uplifting quality of quiet, empty mornings and my feet on the cool tile of the kitchen floor.

Dusk
The second Micro-mix, Dusk, represents going to bed in my room at home. My family all went to bed at a set time, so going to bed was sort of a communal activity. The sounds of this Micro-mix convey the heavy oppression of being forced to go to bed, as well as incorporating the sounds of the rest of my family preparing for bed, and the audiobooks that I listened to to help me go to sleep.
