Automatic Emblems

While looking through the objects and themes that have resurfaced throughout my MyStory, one stood out as being an apt connector between my Career, Family, and Entertainment Discourses and my Community Discourse. It is the floor.

The Floor

The term floor has several meanings that apply to my story. Not only can floor mean what we stand on in a room, but it can mean the level of a building (story), or can be used as a verb to mean to bewilder or astonish. The definitions have arisen throughout my first three Discourses.

Career Discourse

The floor is a central location of Gut Musicology. The floor of my room is the place where I listen to music, as well as the place where I have had several meaningful musical experiences.

Family Discourse

Many of my family memories have been situated around the floor as well, be it laying on the floor of a hotel room or thinking about the feeling of my feet on the kitchen floor at home.

Entertainment Discourse

Even my memories of entertainment seem to be sentered around the word floor. I sat on the floor to connect with my entertainment and my favorite entertainer floored his audience.

Community Discourse

Now, the floor emblem has surfaced again in my Community Discourse. When I spoke of mixing the elements of a song, what I didn't talk about was what we started with (before any sounds were added). I'd like to call this the floor. It's the 1st floor of the building - what we start with and build off of. This is the floor of the song, and the floor of my life. It becomes obvious that the literal floor is the floor that my MyStory is building off of.
